Big news coming from AMC this weekend as they have ordered a pilot episode of a TV adaptation of the comic, Preacher. It’s dark and vicious the source material is the kind of story that will piss off religious groups, and cause quite a stir in the media. Hollywood is missing the balls to take a chance on something like “Preacher”, so there’s a bit of a celebration that AMC is taking such a risk.
Rumor has it that Seth Rogan is attached to the series which should be an interesting take on the comic coming from a huge fan of the material. I’m sure we will get an official press release from the suits at AMC soon.
“Merging with a bizarre spiritual force called Genesis, Texan Preacher Jesse Custer becomes completely disillusioned with the beliefs that he had dedicated his entire life to. Now possessing the power of “the word,” an ability to make people do whatever he utters, Custer begins a violent and riotous journey across the country. Joined by his gun-toting girlfriend Tulip and the hard drinking Irish vampire Cassidy, the Preacher loses faith in both man and God as he witnesses dark atrocities and improbable calamities during his exploration of America.”
