It’s been a few years since Michael Dougherty and Legendary Pictures officially announced the title for the long awaited sequel to his beloved cult classic ‘Trick ‘r Treat’. Since 2013, when Dougherty announced he wanted to “shake things up a bit” with ‘Trick ‘r Treat 2’, he’s gone on to make the christmas horror film ‘Krampus’ and is busy working the upcoming ‘Godzilla: King of the Monsters’. But now it seems his ‘Trick ‘r Treat 2’ will finally be removed from the backburner.
Dougherty announced his plan on the Post Mortem podcast. He said, “My hope is that once Godzilla has been put to rest that I can dive back into [Trick ‘r Treat 2]. I would love to finish writing it in post-production [of Godzilla] and then I’d love to make it my next project. But we’ll see…”
This is exciting news for all of us that have been waiting since 2009 for another anthology with Sam. Lets hope the long promised sequel will be coming soon.
Dougherty’s newest film ‘Godzilla: King of the Monsters’ is scheduled to be release on March 22, 2019 based on a screenplay written by Dougherty, Zach Shields & Max Borenstein.
