Bob Odenkirk Goes Full Badass in Red Band Trailer for ‘Nobody’

Credit: Universal Pictures

Universal just dropped the red band trailer for ‘Nobody,’ a rough and tumble action film starring Bob Odenkirk (‘Better Call Saul,’ ‘Breaking Bad’). There’s guns, there’s fists, there’s bruises, there’s a kitty bracelet. It looks like a rollicking wild ride.

Odenkirk plays the titular ‘Nobody,’ a guy named Hutch Mansell. He’s “an underestimated and overlooked dad and husband, taking life’s indignities on the chin and never pushing back. A nobody.” When Hutch fails to defend himself or his family during a home robbery, his long-simmering rage alights. As the trailer shows in no subtle fashion, a “barrage of fists, gunfire, and squealing tires” send him down a path of brutality. Hutch must save himself and his family, ensuring that “he will never be underestimated as a nobody again.

‘Nobody’ is directed by Ilya Naishuller (‘Hardcore Henry’) and written by Derek Kolstad (‘John Wick’). Actors Gage Munroe (‘The Shack’), Connie Nielsen (‘Wonder Woman’), Christopher Lloyd (‘Back to the Future’) and musician-actor RZA co-star.

It’s exciting to see Odenkirk show us his badass, ‘John Wick’ action star side. It almost feels like a natural segue from his famed role as Saul Goodman slash Jimmy McGill — a generally good guy with some, uh, questionable instincts. We’re looking forward to seeing where this good-guy-gone-bad is headed.

‘Nobody’ is set for a theatrical release on February 26th, 2021. Check out the trailer below!

SYNOPSIS:
Sometimes the man you don’t notice is the most dangerous of all. Emmy winner Bob Odenkirk (Better Call Saul, Breaking Bad) stars as Hutch Mansell, an underestimated and overlooked dad and husband, taking life’s indignities on the chin and never pushing back. A nobody. When two thieves break into his suburban home one night, Hutch declines to defend himself or his family, hoping to prevent serious violence. His teenage son, Blake (Gage Munroe, The Shack), is disappointed in him and his wife, Becca (Connie Nielsen, Wonder Woman), seems to pull only further away. The aftermath of the incident strikes a match to Hutch’s long-simmering rage, triggering dormant instincts and propelling him on a brutal path that will surface dark secrets and lethal skills.

In a barrage of fists, gunfire, and squealing tires, Hutch must save his family from a dangerous adversary (famed Russian actor Aleksey Serebryakov, Amazon’s McMafia)-and ensure that he will never be underestimated as a nobody again. Nobody is directed by acclaimed filmmaker Ilya Naishuller (Hardcore Henry), from a script by Derek Kolstad, the narrative architect of the John Wick franchise, and co-stars legendary Emmy winner Christopher Lloyd as Hutch’s father and multi-hyphenate musician-actor RZA as Hutch’s brother, whose own hidden talents aid Hutch in his quest for vengeance.
