Horror Junkies Podcast: Creatures from the Abyss

This week on the Horror Junkies Podcast, Mike and Pat discuss two films from the mastermind Guillermo del Toro: The Shape of Water and Pan’s Labyrinth.

On the first part of the show, Patrick talks to us about whats happening in the Horror world. Unfortunately, it appears that The Texas Chainsaw Massacre is yet again getting a reboot. Hellraiser: Judgement is finally getting released on Blu-ray on February 13, 2018. Another thing that was brought up was about a movie called Mom and Dad, where the parents start killing their kids.

The first movie by del Toro is Pan’s Labyrinth, released in 2006. This movie takes place in 1944 Spain, the bookish young stepdaughter of a sadistic army officer escapes into an eerie but captivating fantasy world.

The newest film released by del Toro was The Shape of Water. This movie takes place in a 1960’s research facility. Elisa, a mute janitor, forms a relationship with a mysterious aquatic creature. Yet again, del Toro has made the audience care about every character in the film.
