Have you ever experienced being lost in the woods with no cell phone!? Well now you can with the new ‘Blair Witch’ game!

The Blooper Team has carved a new chapter of ‘Blair Witch’ lore and mythology. Their much anticipated ‘Blair Witch’ game dropped this weekend to some high praise capturing a 80%-90% rating from all major gaming outlets. From the creative minds behind the critically acclaimed ‘Layers of Fear’, experience first-hand the toll that fear can take on the mind in an original story inspired by the cinematic lore of ‘Blair Witch’.

So what makes the game so cool? Aside from wrapping it around a ground breaking film it also studies your reactions to fear and stress through a psychological horror game. Capturing the very core idea of the films. It’s 1996 and a young boy (Peter Shannon) disappears in the Black Hills Forest near Burkittsville, Maryland. As the main character, Ellis, a former police officer with a troubled past, you join the search. What starts as an ordinary investigation soon turns into an endless nightmare as you confront your fears and the Blair Witch, a mysterious force that haunts the woods.

We were able to see some footage of the game a few weeks ago and again from IGN at GamesCon 2019. Now that the game is out we have been watching twitch live streams all weekend to get in on the action and face our fears.

The game embraces the 90’s complete with VHS cameras and tying in things from the film lore with missing posters, stick figures and a general sense that something is about to spiral out of control. Even to go as far to put a snake game on Ellis’s old cell phone called “Cobra Masters.” Authentic 90’s action.

But it not only captures the original film but starts to build on it significantly creating something entirely different and fresh. With your trusty sidekick Bullet by your side it will take everything in your power to keep a level head and not get sucked in by the atmosphere of the woods. Full of jump scares and “moody atmosphere” I can’t think of a more perfect game to kick off the fall season. Now I just need another Blair Witch film set in the 90’s. I NEED IT!
