Polish game developer Blooper Team has released the official live-action trailer for their upcoming game: ‘The Medium.’ The Medium is a psychological thriller that focuses on Marianne, a spirit medium, exploring and trying to solve the mysteries behind the haunting visions she sees.
Live-Action Trailer Breakdown
‘The Medium’ focuses on Marianne, a spirit medium, exploring and trying to solve the mysteries behind the haunting visions she sees. We are also introduced to our antagonist, The Maw, and a small child. The child’s identity remains a secret – but we have a few guesses. Will it be Marianne when she was younger, Sadness, the first spirit Marianne comes across at the hotel or a new addition to the storyline?
Fans of Blooper Teams’ previous games like ‘Layers of Fear’ or fans of games like ‘Silent Hill’ will get a kick out of this. The visuals are breathtaking – the decrepit hotel remains, the nightmarish creatures that haunt the spirit world, and the eerie score packaged together takes this to a new level.
With its release coming soon, here is everything we know:
Gameplay
The Blooper Team will introduce what they call “Dual-Reality” into ‘The Medium.’ At times in the game, you will be able to see what is happening in the real world and the spirit world through a split-screen. Here some of the objects you can interact with in the real world are not present in the spirit world and vice versa, leading for the player to have to explore both in order to solve the puzzles.
Out of Body is a unique ability you will be able to possess as Marianne. With it, you will be able to solely explore the spirit world only in order to complete certain tasks. But beware – staying in the spirit world for too long can have dire effects on Marianne in the real world.
‘The Medium’ will release on January 28, 2021. The game will be available on X Box Series X/S and on Steam.
