Publisher DreadXP’s 2025 slate is only getting creepier with the grindhouse-esque The Lacerator. From Brazilian developer Games From The Abyss, The Lacerator is a survival horror game that takes inspiration from the Grindhouse films of the 70s and 80s. While the title will launch in 2025, DreadXP will be showcasing the title as part of their PAX West 2024 lineup. The Lacerator joins a highly anticipated lineup of fan-favorite Amanda the Adventurer 2 and fellow retro survival Heartworm.

The Lacerator pays homage to horror genre classics Resident Evil and Silent Hill with its low poly visuals and tank controls. Players will take on the role of Max, a famous porn star who, during his last recording session, gets attacked by The Lacerator. After the crew and Max are attacked and abducted by the psycho killer, Max must escape the filthy hideout.

While there are multiple main escape routes, the branching environment won’t make survival an easy feat. Uniquely, each route will have its own specific details and narrative answers not available in the others. Fight back against enemies and solve puzzles to progress your mission to escape the grimy hell. But be careful, The Lacerator has traps that’ll cost you an arm and a leg. Literally. Losing a limb will cause an abrupt change in your gameplay, making you second-guess every encounter. Plus, if you lose a limb, some escape options will no longer be available.

If you want to take the dirty hellhouse for a spin, you don’t have to wait until 2025. Currently, a demo is available to play on Steam.

The Lacerator will release to PC in 2025.
