Get ready to sink your teeth into Cannibal Tales – players can take a bite of the action starting in May. In a statement posted this morning, Fantastico Studios announced that their first episode will launch on May 7th for PC users. The team is looking at a summer release date for their console version.
Although the episode was ready at the end of December, Fantastico Studios sought to honor Ruggero Deodato’s legacy and pushed the launch date to May 7th, his birthday. The horror icon would have been 85. Deodato’s Cannibal Holocaust is considered to be one of the most brutal movies created. It influenced the found footage genre, including The Blair Witch Project and The Last Broadcast.
While the first episode launches in early summer, the second episode is looking at a winter 2024 release. A third episode – “a 3D survival horror adventure that will test your courage and wits” – will conclude the visual novel. No release date has been set for the final episode. However, they aim to complete development by 2025.
In Episode 1 “The Interview”, players take on the role of an ambitious journalist, Helen, seeking a story that’ll get them the role of partner at their newspaper. After deciding to write about the survivor of a metropolitan cannibal, Price, Helen pushes for an interview. However, her morality is at stake as she uncovers how they survived. Will Helen let her selfishness take over for her success? Or will she do what’s right?
Cannibal Tales – Episode 1 will release on May 7th for PC via Steam.
