It is often hard to put a new spin on the zombie sub-genre of horror. But Netflix’s new Medieval Korean series ‘Kingdom’ does a pretty good job of doing just that.

The series is set some time within Korea’s Joseon Dynasty (1392-1897).  A mysterious plague begins to spread across Korea when a deceased king comes back to life and with him are hundreds of other dead enemies.

The Prince must stave off the dead and keep his people safe – but how do you kill what is already dead. This looks like a top-notch premium series from Netflix that is very intriguing.

As you watch the trailer things slowly spin out of control. ‘Kingdom’ has some incredible cinematography topped off by a small mountain of zombie devouring a woman alive. Check out the trailer for yourself below along with the synopsis and some stills from the series.

SYNOPSIS:
In a ‘Kingdom’ defeated by corruption and famine, a mysterious plague spreads to turn the infected into monsters. The crown prince, framed for treason and desperate to save his people, sets out on a journey to unveil what evil lurks in the dark.

Kingdom coming to Netflix worldwide January 25.
