Imagine a nightmare of decay, monsters, an occult presence, and all of it tied together with the disappearance of your Uncle – in Alone in the Dark, you won’t have to imagine it. It’s your new reality. THQ Nordic‘s remake of the cult classic horror game, Alone In The Dark, is now available.

In 2018, THQ Nordic acquired the rights to the Alone in the Dark franchise and hired developer Pieces Interactive to recreate the original survival horror game. The upcoming game also features a thrilling atmosphere accompanied by a unique doom jazz soundtrack. In addition, Mikael Hedberg, the writer of SOMA and Amnesia: The Dark Descent, wrote a new story for the title. The original Alone in the Dark was revolutionary due to its use of 3D character art and fixed camera angles.

Alone in the Dark follows Emily Hartwood (Jodie Comer) and private investigator Edward Carnby (David Harbour) as they travel to Derceto Manor—a home for the mentally fatigued—to investigate the disappearance of Jeremy Hartwood, Emily’s uncle. In the game, the horror comes from journeying through Jeremy’s nightmarish dreamscapes created from his memories. The mansion seems to hold everything, and even slight actions can create a terrifying version of Derceto. Solve the occult puzzle in the mansion and use Jeremy’s talisman to travel to diverse dreamworlds including a New Orleans street, a swamp oil derrick, or a mausoleum-filled cemetery.

The Alone In The Dark remake is now available for Xbox Series X|S, PlayStation 4/5, and PC via Steam.
