October is proving to be a juggernaut for game releases seeing delays from indie to AAA studios – and THQ Nordic’s Alone in the Dark is no exception. In a statement released this morning, Alone in the Dark is now seeing a January release date.

Alone in the Dark is a psychological horror game following Emily Hartwood (Jodie Comer) and private detective Edward Carnby (David Harbour) as they search for Emily’s missing uncle. Set in the deep south of the 1920s, Emily and Edward find themselves at Derceto Manor – a home for the mentally ill. However, something much more haunting lies ahead of them.

In their statement, the creative team gave two primary reasons for the delay. “Our intention is to avoid competing with the wake of Alan’s epic release and to evade the dazzling skyline of cities adorned by the graceful swings of Spiderman,” reads their statement. Alan Wake 2 also saw a ten-day delay in order to give fans more time with October’s releases. The delay will also give the creative team more time to polish the game experience for players.

Alone in the Dark will release on January 16 on PlayStation 5, Xbox Series X|S, and for PC via Steam.
