The analog horror found footage series that has become somewhat of a cult favorite is back only a year after its previous installment!
V/H/S/99, the fifth entry in the V/H/S series, comes closely behind the very popular V/H/S/94, and with it comes a terrifying time before smartphones and selfies. In 99 we watch as “a thirsty teenager’s home video leads to a series of horrifying revelations” – Bloody Disgusting. It seems like this might be the grittiest most analog-inspired V/H/S installment so far and that has me super stoked for it!
What makes this fifth installment unique is the collection of filmmakers, all of whom are new to the V/H/S franchise. Directors include Johannes Roberts (47 Meters Down, The Strangers: Prey At Night), Vanessa and Joseph Winter (the not-yet-released Deadstream), Maggie Levin (Into the Dark’s My Valentine), Tyler MacIntyre (Tragedy Girls), and finally Flying Lotus (Kuso).
V/H/S/99 seems ready to ring in the new millennium in the nasty way only V/H/S knows how.
The film is executive produced by Michael Schreiber & Adam Boorstin for Studio71 and is having its US premiere this weekend at Fantastic Fest 2022.
