Actor-comedian Pete Davidson and director James DeManaco will make their return to genre with ‘The Home,’ a film already being referred to as an “instant horror classic.”
Deadline reported that Lionsgate has closed a deal on the film out of the 2023 Toronto International Film Festival. U.S. audiences can expect to catch ‘The Home’ in a theatrical release in early 2024.
“We went into ‘The Home’ not knowing what to expect and James and Pete delivered an exhilarating ride of a movie that is pure suspense-filled fun and just plain bonkers,” shared Lionsgate’s Charlotte Koh (EVP, Acquisitions and Co-Productions). “Audiences won’t know what hit them.”
Former ‘Saturday Night Live’ cast member Pete Davidson takes his second dive into horror following 2022’s ‘Bodies Bodies Bodies.’ DeMonaco (‘The Purge’) pulls double duty as director and co-writer on the film, alongside Adam Canto. From an official description of the plot:
“Davidson will play Max, a troubled man who starts working at a retirement home and realizes its residents and caretakers harbor sinister secrets. As he investigates the building and its forbidden fourth floor, he starts to uncover connections to his own past and upbringing as a foster child.”
‘The Home’ was produced by Miramax, who teams up with Lionsgate for the release.
