A strange island, a weird new T-virus strain, and Leon’s one-liners can only mean one thing: it’s time for some ‘Resident Evil’ shenanigans. Following on the aforementioned series, ‘Resident Evil: Death Island’ is the newest animated installment to the fan-favorite horror franchise. ‘Death Island’ takes place in 2015 between the events of ‘Resident Evil: Vendetta’ and Resident Evil 7: Biohazard.’

We see D.S.O. agent Leon S. Kennedy (Matthew Mercer) on a mission to rescue Dr. Antonio Taylor. But his efforts are thwarted by a crash with Maria Gomez. Meanwhile, Chris Redfield (Kevin Dorman) meets with BSAA Advisor Rebecca Chambers (Erin Cahill) about a series of infected across San Fransisco.

The team soon discovers that the infection is actually an advanced strain of the t-virus. Except each victim was directly infected via injection instead of bites or inhalation. However, each victim had one thing in common: each recently visited Alcatraz Island. Leon, Chris, Rebecca, Claire (Stephanie Panisello), and Jill (Nicole Tompkins) head out to Alcatraz Island to find and stop the infection.

‘Death Island’ comes from animated movie veterans Eiichiro Hasumi, Makoto Fukami, and Masachika Kawata. In a recent interview with Screenrant (conducted before the SAG-AFTRA strike), the creators spoke about finally bringing together the core 5 members of the RE Universe. Including bringing Jill Valentine back after nearly 10 years.

‘Resident Evil: Death Island’ is available to purchase on Blu-ray and digital worldwide.
