Gamescom 2023 is in full swing with updates for new and highly anticipated games, including GSC Game World’s S.T.A.L.K.E.R. 2: Heart of Chornobyl. The post-apocalyptic FPS survival game originally saw a late 2023 release date. However, in their newest Bolts & Bullets trailer, the Ukrainian studio revealed their new early 2024 release date.

Stalker 2 sets off after a second massive explosion in the Chornobyl Exclusion Zone detonates. In the ruins, deadly anomalies, mutants, and warring factions have caused the Zone to become a harsh and unforgiving area to survive in. Although perils lurk around each corner, valuable artifacts attract those willing to risk everything for a fortune. Players take on the role of a lone S.T.A.L.K.E.R. who has just recently entered the Zone. Build relationships or make new enemies with the different factions as you traverse the Zone. Fight against unique and hazardous arch-anomalies with 30+ weapons to choose from to get rich and unveil the mystery of the Zone. Not only will you have to look out for enemies, but survival mechanics such as radiation exposure will keep you on the edge of your seat.

With their newest trailer confirming the new release window, this isn’t the first time the project has seen a delay. Originally, Stalker 2 was looking at an April 2022 release. However, due to the war in Ukraine, the game experienced a pause in its development a few times. Now, the creative team is gearing up for their Q1 2024 release. The trailer shown at Gamescom highlights new gameplay footage of its environments, weapons, and gunfights. With the implementation of an advanced artificial intelligence system, the game will keep newcomers and seasoned fans on their toes.

S.T.A.L.K.E.R. 2 Heart of Chornobyl is now available for pre-order.
