Jordan Peele has his hands full nowadays. He is currently prepping his next social thriller ‘Us’ which is due out in early 2019. He helped bring the Ron Stallworth story to screens this summer with the excellent ‘BlacKkKlansman’. Let’s also not forget the two shows he’s producing, ‘The Last O.G.’ and the upcoming ‘Lovecraft County’. Like I said,Peele is busy. He could get even busier though, as he is in talks to be resurrecting the 90’s slasher film ‘Candyman’.

Jordan Peele being involved with ‘Candyman‘ makes a ton of sense. The Clive Barker adaptation seems right up Peele’s ally of socially conscious genre film making. The only downside of this story is that it seems like Peele wouldn’t be directing. I know he has his own stories he wants to tell, but I would love to see what he would do with the story of White college student who comes to the housing projects to investigate UrbanLegends. It also would be nice the Candyman story get some prestige from those outside the horror community.

I am loving this new phase of Jordan Peele’s career. He has gone from one of the smartest comedic minds on television to an outstanding filmmaker. He only has one directorial credit to his name, but every project he gets involved with automatically becomes more intriguing. ‘Candyman‘ is no exception.
