Maggie Gyllenhaal To Direct a ‘Bride of Frankenstein’ Remake

There will reportedly be a remake of ‘Bride of Frankenstein’ titled, ‘The Bride,’ which will feature a cast that includes Penelope Cruz, Christian Bale, and Peter Scarsgaard

It will be directed by Maggie Gyllenhaal and made for Netflix. Production is set to begin in 2024. We’ll have to wait and see who else is cast amongst the stacked cast and if this remake sticks to the same formula or changes in any way. 

Synopsis of 1935’s Bride of Frankenstein:

After recovering from injuries sustained in the mob attack upon himself and his creation, Dr. Frankenstein falls under the control of his former mentor, Dr. Pretorius, who insists the now-chastened doctor resume his experiments in creating new life. Meanwhile, the Monster remains on the run from those who wish to destroy him without understanding that his intentions are generally good despite his lack of socialization and self-control.

Gyllenhaal’s directorial debut, The Lost Daughter, received rave reviews. Olivia Coleman and Jessie Buckley received Oscar nominations for the film.
