Our Most Anticipated Games of 2022

With the year coming to a close, it’s time to look ahead to the most anticipated games coming in 2022. With the pandemic causing delays among some of the most anticipated games for 2021, this makes the upcoming year stacked for titles. Assuming the titles release in their announced release windows, 2022 is looking to becoming one of the biggest years for gamers. Here are our most anticipated titles for the coming year.

 

Starfield

Bethesda’s highly anticipated action role-playing title will be something new for gamers and the studio. Taking the developers well known mechanics to space, Starfield promises to be a fresh look from the studio. Described as “Skyrim in space”, the title places players in the year 2310 as a member of an organization of space explorers. Since the release of the trailer at E3 2021, the game has gained a lot of attention amongst gamers. Bethesda’s first foray into science fiction is set to release on November 11th of 2022 for Xbox Series X/S and Microsoft Windows as a console exclusive.

 

Dying Light 2 Stay Human

The sequel to ‘Dying Light’ will be set 20 years after the first game. With a zombie filled open world to traverse, players are put in the role of Aiden Caldwell, the new protagonist of the sequel. Given various tools to combat the zombie outbreak and to traverse the fictional European city, ‘Stay Human’ aims to boost the fluidity of gameplay. With a map four times as large as the previous entry, filled with plenty to explore. Dying Light 2 Stay Human is set to launch February 4th, 2022 for Windows, Switch, Playstation 4, Playstation 5, Xbox One, and Xbox Series X/S.

 

Horizon Forbidden West

The long awaited follow up to ‘Horizon Zero Dawn’ has made huge splashes in the gaming community since its reveal. Players once again take control of Aloy, as she navigates a devastated world, full of dangerous robotic dinosaurs. The newest entry see’s the protagonist traveling to locations based on California, Utah and Nevada. The original title is Guerrilla Games newest IP, crushing the sales records of their previous Killzone games and setting the studio up for a bright future. Trailers for the game have shown off the absolutely stunning graphics the studio was able to squeeze out of the Playstation 5. ‘Horizon Forbidden West’ is set to drop on February 18th of 2022 for Playstation 4 and Playstation 5 as a console exclusive.

 

The Outlast Trials

Red Barrels third entry in the popular survival horror franchise ‘Outlast’ saw a delay from its original 2021 release date. Due to the ongoing pandemic, the release date is now set of 2022. Set up as a prequel to the two previous titles, players will control test subjects in a horrifying Cold War experiment. The game will not serve as a numbered sequel in the series, but will instead act as a shorter prequel, leading to the next numbered entry. Currently the title is only set to release on Microsoft windows sometime in 2022.

 

Ghostwire: Tokyo

The final timed exclusive for the Playstation 5 from Bethesda, ‘Ghostwire: Tokyo’ places players in the haunted streets of Japans largest city. Players are pitted against the ghosts and spirits that inhabit the streets of Tokyo, with various abilities at their disposal. A mysterious group wearing traditional Japanese demon masks may hold the key to finding out why the streets have been overrun. The title will be the final timed exclusive Playstation before the studio fully integrates with Microsoft is set to launch sometime in 2022. Coming initially to Playstation 5 before arriving on Xbox Series X/S one year following its release.

 

The Texas Chain Saw Massacre

Gun Interactive, creators of Friday the 13th: The Game, and Sumo Nottingham announced they are developing The Texas Chain Saw Massacre, an authentic gaming experience based on the groundbreaking 1974 film. The Gun team put their blood sweat and tears into the Friday the 13th game and I expect the same from this title but with an even more refined approach and budget. No word yet on an official release but rumor has it the game may drop the same time ‘The Texas Chain Saw Massacre’ film debuts on Netflix. Evil Dead: The Game

Step into the shoes of Ash Williams or his friends from the iconic Evil Dead franchise and work together in a game loaded with over-the-top co-op and PVP multiplayer action! Play as a team of four survivors, exploring, looting, managing your fear, and finding key items to seal the breach between worlds in a game inspired by all three original Evil Dead films as well as the Starz original Ash vs Evil Dead television series. Play as characters from throughout the Evil Dead universe, including Ash, Scotty, Lord Arthur, Kelly Maxwell, Pablo Simon Bolivar, and more, with new dialogue performed by Bruce Campbell and others! ‘Evil Dead: The Game’ is set to release in February 2022.

 

2022 is projecting to be a monumental year for gamers. Huge titles including, ‘God of War: Ragnarök’, ‘Elden Ring’, ‘Sifu’, ‘Gotham Knights’, ‘Suicide Squad: Kill the Justice League, Sequel to The Legend of Zelda Breath of the Wild, and many more all set for 2022 release dates. Whether some of these titles will see more delays is yet to be seen, however if that lineup stays true, 2022 will be a busy year for any gamer.
