New ‘Saw X’ Featurette Teases a Gory Delight For Fans

It’s only been two years since ‘Spiral: From the Book of Saw’ hit theaters, but it’s been over half a decade since the iconic John Kramer last played a game on the big screen in 2017’s ‘Jigsaw’. Next week, however, Jigsaw makes his big return with the great Tobin Bell stepping back into the role for the tenth entry in the ‘Saw’ franchise; ‘Saw X’. Only this time he isn’t alone. Series alum and fan-favorite character, Amanda Young (played again by Shawnee Smith), makes her long-awaited return to the series for the first time since 2009’s ‘Saw VITaking place mere weeks after the events of the first ‘Saw’ film, ‘Saw X’ promises to delve deeper into the relationship between John Kramer and Amanda leading up to the gruesome events of 2005’s ‘Saw II‘.

However, don’t expect an overly-schmaltzy ‘Saw’ flick that betrays the franchise’s grisly roots. In this latest behind-the-scenes featurette from Lionsgate, director Kevin Greutert (‘Saw VI;Saw: The Final Chapter‘) and various other members of the cast and crew promise fans a cavalcade of carnage.

Creative traps?! Billy the Puppet?! A sickly green color palette that looks straight out of the mid-2000s?!?! Yup, this looks like a ‘Saw’ movie, alright. But will it meet the fans high expectations? Not only is this the return of John Kramer, but it’s also the first ‘Saw’ film that functions within the main series timeline (not a reboot; not a spin-off) since 2010. For audiences, a whole lot is riding on the success of this film and after the lukewarm reception to 2021’s ‘Spiral’ , Lionsgate execs might be just as anxious to make sure their latest ‘Saw’ delivers the goods.

‘Saw X’ hits theaters nationwide, September 29th.
