Rejoice, comedy and horror fans alike! Seth Rogen and Evan Goldberg (‘This Is the End,’ ‘Superbad’) are back. This time, they’ll be producing an upcoming horror film from Lionsgate, titled ‘Video Nasty.’ The duo’s production company, Point Grey Pictures, has teamed with Greg Silverman’s Stampede Ventures to develop the film, Variety reported.
‘Video Nasty’ will feature a spec script from Chris Thomas Devlin. Devlin has quickly become a name to look out for in the horror world. The screenwriter will also pen upcoming horror thrillers ‘Cobweb’ and ‘The Wretched Emily Derringer,’ as well as the ‘Texas Chainsaw Massacre’ reboot. Jonathan Levine (‘Warm Bodies,’ ‘The Night Before’) is in the conversation to direct, though a director has not been confirmed.
As for the plot of ‘Video Nasty,’ here’s what we know: “three teens rent a cursed VHS and are pulled into an ’80s slasher movie that threatens to trap them forever.” No word on a cast or whether the film will venture into horror comedy territory (we can hope, right?), but we’ll be on the lookout as the project develops.
