SXSW: Audible to Host Immersive Fantasy World of ‘Escape from Virtual Island’

Audible and Broadway Video invite SXSW attendees into the immersive fantasy world of the upcoming Audible Original comedy series, “Escape from Virtual Island,’ starring Paul Rudd and written by John Lutz (Saturday Night Live, 30 Rock), at an unexpected tropical paradise on Rainey Street. Guests will have the opportunity to “escape to their wildest fantasies” with one-of-a-kind experiences.
Audible will return to SXSW as the official original audio entertainment sponsor of the conference with an experience that brings attendees into the world of its latest Broadway Video title Escape from Virtual Island. The brand will also debut its Audible for Business Lounge, a space for teams and business leaders to learn more about Audible for Business and to capture their SXSW experiences in a state-of-the-art recording booth.

 

Audible Presents Escape From Virtual Island

SXSW attendees will encounter an unexpected tropical paradise on Rainey Street: The Pegalaman Island Resort, where guests are invited to “escape to their wildest fantasies” with one-of-a-kind experiences. A virtual concierge played by Jack McBrayer (30 Rock) will welcome attendees into a tropical resort filled with audio-driven simulations and photo opportunities that bring the funny and fantastical world of Escape from Virtual Island to life.

The Audible Original Escape from Virtual Island is a comedic adventure set in an island resort in 2038, where the wealthy come to live out their fantasies in virtual reality. When a high profile guest goes missing inside a computer simulation, a team led by Derek Ambrose (Paul Rudd) form a search party to retrieve him, which leads them on a wild chase through a British Royal Navy ship, a Wild West saloon, and a Central Park rom-com.

Escape from Virtual Island, created by John Lutz (Saturday Night Live), features an all-star ensemble cast of comedic talent including Rudd, Jack McBrayer, Paula Pell, Amber Ruffin, Scott Adsit, Jane Krakowski, Seth Meyers, Jason Sudeikis, Kenan Thompson, Olivia Wilde, and Henry Winkler. The audio series will debut April 2, exclusively on Audible.
