Two years after its initial release, the cult-following The Mortuary Assistant has a console release date. DarkStone Digital and DreadXP will release The Mortuary Assistant to PlayStation 4/5, Xbox One, and Xbox Series X|S on August 2nd. Plus, their Definitive Edition will bring free updates to PC and Nintendo Switch versions as well.
In The Mortuary Assistant, players assume the role of Rebecca Owens, a recently graduated mortuary apprentice. However, something dark lurks at the River Fields Mortuary. After being called in by the Mortician, the night quickly descends into a demonic madness with no foreseeable escape.
Players must examine and prepare the bodies with entities residing in them all while keeping demons at bay. With each body examined, uncover the haunting past of River Fields, Rebecca’s tragic backstory, and a horrible secret that lies beneath your feet. If bodies are not examined correctly, one of seven different endings may be unlocked depending on the players’ actions. Check out our guide, Every ‘The Mortuary Assistant’ Ending Explained to see how to unlock each one.
The developers are also releasing a Definitive Edition. The Definitive Edition will add new Haunt Events, an endless embalming mode, new bodies, more lore, a new Valentine’s Day event, and some quality-of-life updates.
The Mortuary Assistant is available on PC via Steam. The console version will release on August 2nd.
