When SXSW 2020 was cancelled along with it were the premieres of many films. Such was the case for the low-fi sci-fi film ‘Archive.’
SXSW is one of my favorite festivals to cover both from the programming and the source of inspiration it provides each year. The ability to network with filmmakers and actors along with fellow writers is fantastic. But more importantly we miss out on the initial buzz of smaller indie films such as ‘Archive.’
Set in 2038, George Almore (Theo James) is working on a true human-equivalent AI. His latest prototype is almost ready. This sensitive phase is also the riskiest. Especially as he has a goal that must be hidden at all costs: being reunited with his dead wife.
