We have seen the home invasion sub-genre flipped on its head a handful of times where those breaking into someone’s house end up being the ones that are held captive and ultimately get something much worse done to them.
Such is the case for the new film from RLJE titled ‘The Owners.’ It is based on a graphic novel and is headlined by Maisie Williams along with Sylvester McCoy, Jake Curran, Ian Kenny, Andrew Ellis and Rita Tushingham.
The story centers around a group of friends think they found the perfect easy score – an empty house with a safe full of cash. But when the elderly couple that lives there comes home early the tables are suddenly turned. As a deadly game of cat and mouse ensues the would-be thieves are left to fight to save themselves from a nightmare they could never have imagined.
‘The Owners’ will be in select theaters, digital and On Demand September 4.
