We think we know evil when we see it, but what about when we can’t actually see it? When our home, our supposed safe place, comes under invisible attack, what do we do then? Well, that’s the exact situation the real-life Broaddus family found themselves in and the story presented in the Netflix new true crime series, The Watcher.

The Watcher comes from the creators of American Horror Story and airs on October 13th, which adds an extra layer of spookiness to this already terrifying true crime thriller. The series stars The Ring’s Naomi Watts and Everybody Loves Raymond’s Bobby Cannavale as the Broaddus family. There are also appearances by Legally Blonde’s Jennifer Coolidge and Mia Farrow, yes, like Rosemary’s Baby, Mia Farrow. Talk about an all-star cast! Perfect for this Halloween horror fest.

The story follows the family as they move into their dream home, which quickly becomes a nightmare. One day they receive an anonymous welcome letter from a neighbor, only the letter is far more threatening than welcoming. The letter introduces the writer as ‘The Watcher’ and goes on to say they are watching the home and the family. The letters continue growing more ominous and threatening with each installment. They talk about the children and how the home welcomes the ‘new blood.’ It is clear someone is watching their family, and equally clear that the person’s intentions are sinister.

The family doesn’t know who to trust as all their neighbors become suspects, and their home becomes a living crime scene. Soon ‘The Watcher’ isn’t just outside their home, he is inside their heads. The trailer reveals the family descending into chaos as the letters continue with no end or suspects in sight.

With an all-star cast and a beyond-belief true story to back it, we are sure this series will have us all on the edge of our seats and hiding under our covers.
