Fire up your dial up modems and get ready for some chaos!
What if ‘Super Bad’ took place on ‘Y2k’? That’s the question posed in Kyle Mooney’s horror comedy ‘Y2K’ from A24. I had the pleasure to check this out at SXSW earlier this year and had a blast with it. For those of you old enough to experience Y2K in high school this is the kind of stuff I was hoping to see. Unfortunately life kept going on like nothing really happened. The film is full of nostalgic references and has a great opening sequence as well.
SNL alum Kyle Mooney brings his unique blend of humor alongside writing partner Evan Winter to bring to life a fun take on 90’s horror that has plenty of scenes to quench even the most blood thirsty horror fan.
Winter shared the origin story of the film during a post screening Q&A at SXSW saying Mooney basically texted him the entire premise of the film late one night and that became the foundation of the film.
‘Y2K’ stars Jaeden Martell, Rachel Zegler, Julian Dennison, The Kid Laroi with a fun cameo from Limp Bizkit lead man Fred Durst.
Catch the dial-up disaster comedy in theaters on December 6th.
