It was announced yesterday that Sid Gentle Films and the original producers of the Ginger Snaps trilogy, Copperheart Entertainment, will be producing a TV series adaptation. Check out Deadline’s original state here.

Released in the early 2000s with screenings at both Munich Fantasy Festival and Toronto International Film Festival, Ginger Snaps starred Emily Perkins (Supernatural) and Katharine Isabelle (Hannibal, Supernatural) who played two macabre obsessed teenage sisters – Brigitte and Ginger – who, on a late-night, encounter a werewolf in their small home town and must deal with the fallout after Ginger is bitten and transforms into a werewolf.

The first season will be based around the first installment, while subsequent seasons, if ordered, will focus on the other installments, Ginger Snaps 2: Unleashed and Ginger Snaps Back: The Beginning.

TV writer Anna Ssemuyaba has been announced to write the TV series adaptation. Ssemuyaba has written on shows like Guerilla, and most recently Amazon’s Upload.

Sid Gentle Films’ Woodward Gentle and Lee Morris will serve as Executive Producers with Clark Peterson. The original director of Ginger Snaps, John Fawcett, will also be an Executive Producer alongside Steve Hoban from Copperheart Entertainment.  Endeavor Content (The Night Manager, Killing Eve) has been announced to handle worldwide sales.
