Premiering on Peacock this Friday (the 13th!), comes an all new slasher from the creator ofScream,’ Kevin Williamson. Co-written and produced by Williamson, the film is set in April 2020 at the start of the Covid-19 pandemic quarantine. Deciding to quarantine together at a lake house, Parker (Gideon Adlon) and Miri (Bethlehem Million) find that they might not be as alone, or safe, as they thought when an uninvited guest makes their way to the lake house as well.

Only recently beginning to move away from heavy pandemic protocols, a Covid-themed movie might not be the easiest selling point (though arguably, there never really was a market for Covid films), and it seems as though it might be a frequently referenced part of the story. Throughout the trailer for the film, characters spray everything with disinfectant, wipe things down, and remind each other to wear their masks; with the ending of the trailer being a woman refusing to let a clearly desperate and injured character in danger into her car because she had no mask on.

Everyone remembers the uncertainties and fears at the beginning, and much of this was a part of life for a while, however it might be that very accuracy and on-the-nose quality that might deter a large part of audiences. Of course, you should check out the trailer below to see how you feel about this choice; to make a film taking place during a time most people want to move past from.
