After the stunning success of Barbarian last year writer/director Zach Cregger promised fans that he had another horror project already on the horizon. Details have been only a trickle here and there but this week we got an exciting announcement about his next film Weapons. The much beloved Pedro Pascal (The Last of Us) will star in the upcoming New Line Cinema production.

The Hollywood Reporter was the first to get us this news but could only hint at story details: “Plot details for Weapons are being kept holstered but it is described as a multi and inter-related story horror epic that tonally is in the vein of Magnolia, the 1999 actor-crammed showcase from filmmaker Paul Thomas Anderson.”

We expect Weapons to be another exciting theatrical release and production is slated to start later this year. In addition to writing and directing Cregger will produce with is team from Barbarian which includes Roy Lee of Vertigo and J.D. Lifshitz and Raphael Margules of BoulderLight Pictures. Vertigo’s Miri Yoon will also produce.

Cregger, a founding member of The Whitest Kids U’Know proved his deep understanding of the horror genre with Barbarian and we honestly cannot wait to see if he can shock and delight us again with Weapons.

Weapons will be distributed worldwide by Warner Bros. Pictures.
