Long ago, we ventured into the unknown in a land filled with dragons, darkness, and wonder. Skelethrone: The Prey is a standalone, free prologue to Skelethrone: The Chronicles of Ericona. It allows you to experience the story’s beginning and learn how Ericona’s fate was sealed. Skelethrone is a metroidvania that combines the combat skills of a soul-like game with an evocative narrative core delivered through exploring a vast non-linear universe.

Assume the role of Lord Derek Ericona, a lord who escapes persecution and is now seeking to reach the borders of the neighboring kingdom. However, the tyranny of Queen Aurorahe follows him. Lord Ericona is being relentlessly pursued and faces numerous obstacles and challenges in his journey. Players must use their skills to help the hero overcome these difficulties and evade his pursuers.

This game is a challenging 2D action platformer with RPG elements, inspired by games like Castlevania and Dark Souls. The exploration of the game features a massive world that is represented by a variety of stunning handcrafted levels. From fog-shrouded ruins, where undead corpses cling to any living being passing by, to the sun-city hidden in the labyrinthine of an ancient tomb, where an unspeakable evil lingers, long forgotten by mankind. Skelethrone: The Prey offers a vast selection of weapons and equipment such as bows, scythes, longswords, and whips, among other conventional weapons. You can use any possible way to complete a task or achieve a goal.

Final Thoughts

During my experience playing the game, I found that the enemies were quite challenging to defeat. One of the most interesting aspects of the game was trying to come up with the best strategy to defeat them. After taking into account the various factors that influenced the gameplay. For example, one of the bosses, a titan suit of armor called the Strayed Guardian, required precise timing to attack. If you fail to time your attacks correctly, you won’t be able to deal damage. Not unless you want the Strayed Guardian to stomp on you, that is.

The game’s elements brought back memories of spending time in a video game arcade, where I would get lost in a game while my parents went shopping. I particularly enjoyed the platform elements, which made it easier to navigate the environment. The PC version of the game has familiar and easy-to-understand mechanics. Players will find the gameplay intuitive and easy to learn, with a user-friendly interface that allows for seamless navigation. Whether you’re an experienced gamer or someone new to the genre, you’ll find that the controls are easy to master, and the game is both fun and engaging.

Skelethrone: The Prey is now available for PC via Steam.

This is the story of a hero who falls and tries to change his destiny in the cruel world he inhabits, leaving you breathless until the very end of the game.
