When I heard that the original Winnie The Pooh stories by A.A.Milne were entering public domain it certainly didn’t occur to me that anyone would think to turn the subject matter into a slasher film…how naive of me. Last week there were some stills released for ‘Winnie the Pooh: Blood and Honey’ and it looks like it’s going to wreck some childhoods. Director, and clear visionary, Rhys Waterfield was a bit taken aback by the viral reaction to the stills and told Variety that post production will be fast tracked to capitalize on the buzz (pun intended). Many characters are still under copyright so don’t expect to see Tigger or Eeyore, though apparently we do see Eeyore’s tombstone in one scene. Which answers the question I got in trouble for asking in a group chat “do you think Eeyore will finally get what’s coming to him?” Apparently I’m friends with a lot of Eeyore apologists. I wish I could tell you a film like this wouldn’t interest me, but as it turns out watching a feral Pooh and Piglet fend for themselves in the most brutal way is very much my shit.

No word yet on when we can expect to go on this nightmare journey to 100 Acre Woods, but here are some stills to tide you over:
