Body Horror Is Back In Cronenberg’s ‘Crimes of the Future’ Teaser Trailer

Ahead of its premiere at the Cannes Film Festival NEON has debuted the first official teaser for David Cronenberg’s newest film Crimes of the Future. In the trailer, Cronenberg is bringing body horror back to the big screen. The film will premiere exclusively in theaters in June but is first set to compete for the Palme d’Or at Cannes next month.

I can only hope this is Cronenberg’s return to his sci-fi horror peak in the 80s. Check out the synopsis for all the details:

“As the human species adapts to a synthetic environment, the body undergoes new transformations and mutations. With his partner Caprice (Léa Seydoux), Saul Tenser (Viggo Mortensen), celebrity performance artist, publicly showcases the metamorphosis of his organs in avant-garde performances. Timlin (Kristen Stewart), an investigator from the National Organ Registry, obsessively tracks their movements, which is when a mysterious group is revealed…Their mission – to use Saul’s notoriety to shed light on the next phase of human evolution.”

It sounds like pure weird arthouse Cronenberg and I’m here for it! Additional cast includes Nadia Litz, Yorgos Karamichos, Welket Bungué, Don McKellar, Scott Speedman, Lihi Kornowski, Yorgos Pirpassopoulos, and Tanaya Beatty.

NEON is set to release the film, in the meantime watch the trailer below!
