Fresh off of the Golden Globes, Rian Johnson dropped some news at the pre-party to the Hollywood Reporter that a sequel is in the works for his murder mystery dramedy, ‘Knives Out.’ While the film garnered 3 Golden Globe Nominations including; Best Actress in a Musical or Comedy – Ana de Armas, Best Actor in a Musical or Comedy – Daniel Craig and Best Motion Picture Musical or a Comedy it failed to claim any awards.

The movie was a big success for Lionsgate with a production value of $40 million and pulling in $250 million at the box office worldwide! I loved the film and while the running time was over 2 hours it flew by. It featured an all-star cast of characters that helped build an eclectic world with twist and turns.

While Lionsgate has not announced a sequel to the Johnson murder mystery, Rian did have some things to say at the pre-party.

Per the Hollywood Reporter;

“Johnson told The Hollywood Reporter at Lionsgate’s pre-Golden Globes party on Saturday night that he was already developing a sequel centered on Daniel Craig’s Southern detective Benoit Blanc investigating a new case. The filmmaker added that he was eager to make the pic quickly, ideally in the next year.

Johnson’s producing partner Ram Bergman added that Craig was eager to reprise the role. “Daniel had so much fun doing it, and he wants to do more,” he said.”

I would love to see Daniel Craig return to the role and be surrounded by another all-star cast. Give me a trilogy and I’ll be at the theater for each one. Hopefully ‘Knives Out’ can snag an award at the Academy Awards!
